Foreclosure Deals Blog Feed Information

RSS Feed (Really Simple Syndication)

What Is RSS?

With the billions of existing web pages and millions more being added every day, it is very hard to keep up to date with the latest information that you want. If you want to see when your favorite sites have added new content, RSS allows you to get the latest news or headlines as soon as they go online, all in one place. With RSS you can see the latest information without the hassle.

It is not clear what RSS stands for, but the commonly accepted definition is "Really Simple Syndication". RSS feeds are growing in popularity and are similar to the tape news wire machines of the old days, except that they have the convenience of being online and free.

How Do I Use RSS feeds?

In order to use RSS feeds you need a piece of software called a "newsreader". The newsreader checks the RSS feeds and shows you the new articles. There are basically two types of readers, one you access by using a browser and one that you download to your computer. The browser-based version can be used from any computer as opposed to the downloadable version limiting you to the computer where you downloaded it.

After you choose a newsreader, you access the content you are interested in by subscribing to the RSS feeds for those pages. For example, to get the latest foreclosure listings information all you need to do is go to Foreclosure Deals and click on the orange button on the right side menu that says "RSS" on it. You will find a similar orange RSS button on most sites that offer RSS feeds. You will then have access to information on the foreclosures market.

If you use a browser like Firefox, Safari or Opera, you will see a square orange icon on the bottom right hand side of the screen if an RSS feed is available from the site you are visiting. All you have to do is click on that button to subscribe to that site's RSS feed.

How Do I Find a Newsreader?

There are many different types of newsreaders available and they are designed to work with specific operating systems. Just do a search for "newsreaders" on your favorite search engine and locate one that works with the operating system of your computer.
