Celebrities get married, divorced, and married again about as many times as normal people go to the grocery store during a typical month. Every time vows are exchanged and nuptials become complete (usually at a glitzy, super-exclusive island resort that has its own private island within an island), homes are also shuffled around – and new purchases usually top off the wedding festivities.
Newlyweds Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo continued this fine Hollywood tradition by purchasing a 8,134 sq. ft. mansion in Encino, CA for the price of $2.85 million after their July, 2011 ceremony. The home in question has six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, vaulted wood-beam ceilings, three fireplaces, swimming pool, spa, and a decently-sized, manicured outdoor setting.
It also has one ugly exterior that definitely doesn’t befit a $2.85 million home.
Nick Lachey’s new marriage and home – this time to former beauty queen-turned-TV hostess Vanessa Minnillo – place him in a large group of celeb newlyweds who have bought new homes so lately. They include:
Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher
The Nashville songbird and professional hockey star (Underwood and Fisher, respectively, as to avoid confusion) were married in 2010 and immediately proceeded to build their dream home in Ottawa, Canada – right up until it was announced that husband Mike was traded to the Nashville Predators of the NHL. They are still apparently planning to live in the Ottawa home part-time.
Katy Perry and Russell Brand
Perhaps one of the most eccentric couples in stardom today, Perry and Brand were married late in 2010 and just recently purchased a new $6.5 million home in June. They also listed their former Los Feliz abode for sale and moved into the sprawling, three-story Spanish villa in the Hills. (While relatively plain on the outside, we still think it looks better than the new Lachey home.)
Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries
Recently-married power couple Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries (a professional basketball player formerly with the New Jersey Nets) have moved into their first post-wedding abode – not really a home, but still really, really nice. It’s a penthouse in the super-lux Gansevoort Hotel on Park Avenue in New York City that costs somewhere in the neighborhood of $7,000 per night. The two-story suite features panoramic scenery and all the fancy trappings that come with a luxury suite in a five-star hotel. We’re guessing they will buy an actual home at some point in the near future, probably after Kim wraps up shooting the first season of her new reality show “Kourtney and Kim Take New York”.
Hopefully Lachey and Minnillo will enjoy their new home and marriage better than Lachey and his previous wife, Jessica Simpson. Good luck, kids. Oh, and change that exterior while you’re at it.
