Housing Market In Cincinnati Slowly Recovering, Offers Cheap Foreclosed Homes

Although vacant properties could still be seen from their streets, folks in Cincinnati are choosing to view the situation as an excellent opportunity to revive the real estate market. Instead of noticing the blight and empty houses around them, the whole town is infusing new energy and excitement over these cheap foreclosed homes.

The past few years have seen the area endure tougher times as the housing bust consumed market movements. But despite the industry challenge, home market values in the area remain competitive. In fact, foreclosed homes in Cleveland were able to maintain their prices despite the slump in the market and did not suffer much in terms of their current market values even during the recession.

If at all, buyers are all the more excited over foreclosure homes in Ohio and are eager to look into the state’s inventory.

It can be recalled that home prices started climbing in 2000, a time when loan approvals were at an all time high. But the housing market started to crumble in 2005 when it became apparent that credit standards have suffered and people began missing their payment deadlines. Cheap foreclosed homes became a sensation overnight and many families find themselves without a roof over their heads and with no or little alternatives.

Defaulting homeowners were forced to give way to foreclosures and investment bankers apparently bit more than they could chew when they started buying out mortgage-backed securities and offering them to the public.

In the end, when the bubble burst, communities and neighborhoods are left with rows of foreclosure homes for sale as the real estate market stalled. As the nation suffers through the recession, people are left reeling from the effects of company closures, job losses and a whole myriad of other financial problems.

Realtors believed that while a lot of factors could have played their part in the economic downturn, the biggest of those remains to be the indiscriminate approval of bad loans.

But local realtors stressed that while foreclosures still abound the metro, the area is still better off than any other metropolitan areas in the country who have suffered the same fate.

In fact, a 2010 report shows that the housing opportunity index has improved as more cheap foreclosed homes in the region offer buyers the opportunity to buy low and at reasonable rates. The report is based on families whose income falls within local median.

The US Census Bureau also offers an encouraging data as it shows that occupancy rates for building structures are slowly improving, a sign that the market is moving and people are already starting to buy.
