From The Aviator to 30 Rock, Alec Baldwin has quickly climbed the ladder to fame, winning a couple of Emmy Awards and a few Golden Globe Awards along the way. With fame comes money and Baldwin has been spending his earnings right and left!

His fascination with art left him splurging $70,000 at an auction last Friday as he outbid Goldman’s Sachs’ Donald Mullen for the 2008 Clifford Ross “Hurricane LI. ”Now, less than a month after listing his Central Park West apartment on the market for a shocking $9.5 million, Baldwin has purchased a new pad showing his confidence in the real estate market.

In fact, the Baldwin pad that was put on the market earlier this month was previously put on the market in 2009 for only $7.5 million. Showing his thoughts of real estate market improvement, Baldwin’s recent listing price is significantly higher—$2 million to be exact—which is a bit perplexing as the market has definitely not reached that level of improvement (yet!).

Baldwin’s new penthouse is located downtown and cost him a hefty $12.5 million. Rumor has it that Baldwin’s desires for a splendid New York pad has something to do with his girlfriend Hilaria Thomas—a 28-year-old yoga fanatic (and instructor).

Either way, Alec is definitely shelling out the dough with his luxurious living!

While investing in art and dabbling in real estate, this busy man continues his campaign to be mayor. Baldwin comedic platform seeks to do everything from legalizing gay marriage to lift the smoking ban that has become common in many cities, including the Big Apple. Despite the comedy, Baldwin is serious about his campaign and is actively seeking the Democratic nomination.

Baldwin continues to dream big and desire to jump into the political arena, which is definitely not uncommon for those in the Hollywood spotlight—look at Arnold Schwarzenegger.
